Londoner’s Diary: Fulcrum, 1987

American artist Richard Serra’s free-standing sculpture, outside Liverpool Street Station. It is composed of five steel plates, each about 55ft high and weighing several tonnes, which lean against one another for support. Although they do this admirably, an underlying threat persists of their possible collapse.
