Directions for Visitors
We are based in Southwest London near Kingston-Upon-Thames, with easy access from both central London and the M25.
By Car
Please read and print these directions before you set off!
Driving from central London
Pick up the A3 at Clapham or Wandsworth. Stay on the A3 for about 12 miles, then exit at the Hook Junction, turning right on the roundabout, straight onto the Hook Road. We are half a mile along on the right, just after the red-brick block of flats called Yew Tree House.
Driving from the M25, Junction 9
Head towards Kingston, going straight over at every junction and roundabout. After the Hook Roundabout, we are half a mile along on the right, just after the red-brick block of flats called Yew Tree House.
Driving from the M25, Junction 10
Pick up the A3 at Junction 10, heading north towards London.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is no access to the Hook Roundabout if you’re heading towards London on the A3. Therefore, you have three options:

Option 1 RECOMMENDED: Esher Exit (green marker and blue line)
When northbound on the A3, we recommend you come off at the Esher Exit. Drive to central Esher, then turn right towards London on the A307, past Sandown Park. Go straight across the Scilly Isles roundabout, signposted Kingston, and through Thames Ditton. Turn right at the traffic lights junction with the Brighton Road, signposted Surbiton. Drive up the hill, taking the third junction at the mini roundabout. Look out for Maypole Motors and the Maypole pub – we are 100 yards beyond these on the left.
Option 2 DANGEROUS: Fullers Way North junction (red marker)
If you miss the Esher Exit, there is a sharp left onto Fullers Way North a few hundred yards beyond the Hook underpass. Some SatNav systems will direct you to use this exit. But it’s not signposted and easily missed. Not for faint-hearted drivers.
Option 3 BORING AND SLOW: Tolworth Exit (yellow marker)
If you miss both the earlier exits from the A3, use the Tolworth exit. Turn left on the roundabout, then head a mile down the Ewell Road towards Surbiton. Turn left along Ditton Road, then left onto the Hook Road. This route is relatively easy but rather dull and often ridiculously slow.
Parking
There is usually a spare space available on our drive. If this is not available, there is easy, unrestricted free parking on the east part of Ditton Road, Mayfair Close and Malvern Road. (See purple areas marked on the map.) A footpath connects Malvern Road to Hook Road.
Roads to the west of Hook Road have some restrictions during the day, but are fine for parking in the evening and at weekends.
Loading is allowed on the Hook Road 10am–4pm.
By Train
Surbiton is Zone 6 and has frequent and fast (17 mins) connections with London Waterloo. There are also connections with Wimbledon on the District Line.
Walking
At Surbiton Station, turn right at the top of the stairs to use the Glenbuck Road exit, then follow the green dotted line on the route map up through Oakhill. This is a nicer and quicker route than walking along the main roads all the way. The walk takes about 14 minutes.
By Bus
Buses 71, 465, K1 and K4 from Kingston/Surbiton go right past our place. If coming from Surbiton Station, turn left at the top of the stairs to use the front exit. Cross over the roundabout and go to Bus Stop NK opposite Waitrose. The buses go along Victoria Road, Upper Brighton Road and Hook Road, and take about 5 minutes. Alight at either Bus Stop HA Ditton Road or Bus Stop HU Ash Tree Close – we are in between these stops.

The Property
15 Hook Road is a Victorian townhouse, about 100 yards from Maypole Motors and The Maypole pub. It is on the east side of the road (same side as Maypole Motors), in between the junctions with Ditton Road and Thornhill Road. It is almost opposite the Maypole Guesthouse between two red-brick blocks of flats called Midhurst Court and Yew Tree House.
Have a safe and pleasant journey – we look forward to seeing you!
